Publishers

We are committed to helping and supporting our publishers, who are an integral part of the Google Network. Our publishers help us create good opportunities for our advertisers by providing them with targeted audiences. The success of AdSense is tied to the success of our publishers, so we would like to help you build a long and successful partnership with us. To help you achieve your goals, it is important to follow AdSense Program Policies closely and maintain clean, healthy traffic to your website. If you are a beginner, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the program policies before putting ads on your page.

We know some of you have concerns about the enforcement actions we take. We want to give insight into the reasons that drive our actions, and let you know how you can ensure your continued success in the program.

Google's proprietary technology and our specialists analyze the traffic to the Google ads on your site and carefully monitor the clicks and impressions on them to protect your interests as well as those of our advertisers.

It is important to keep your account in good condition. Following program policies closely and monitoring your account regularly helps you do so. Violating policies leads to a bad experience for your visitors, which also affects our advertiser, and can ultimately lead to the disabling of your AdSense account.

To find out more about the common policy violations, and best practices, please visit AdSense Policies: A beginner's guide.

Here are a few guidelines and some best practices that will help you keep your account in good condition.

Importance of a High Quality Website

The site, or page, on which you put the Google ads is very important. A high-quality website with original and unique content sparks genuine user interest and, in turn, ensures good traffic to your site.

We recommend that your website has unique content. That means it shouldn't be copied from somewhere. Google will show the ad most relevant to the website's content. Any attempts to influence Google's ad targeting, such as by using hidden text and keywords, is strictly prohibited. Also, creating pages with malicious intent like phishing pages is not allowed.

Please note that clicks on Google ads must result from genuine visitor interest, and any method that artificially generates clicks or impressions is strictly prohibited by our program policies. To ensure a good experience for users and advertisers, publishers participating in the AdSense program are required to adhere to the webmaster quality guidelines. Please make sure that your website complies with Google's Landing Page Quality Guidelines. A well-designed site with easy navigation provides a good visitor experience.

Importance of Correctly Implementing Ads

In order to prevent invalid clicks on your site and to keep your account in good standing, please ensure the ad implementation on your site strictly follows the program policies. It's against the terms and conditions of AdSense to tamper with the AdSense code.

Any tricks to get users to accidentally click on the ads must be avoided. Ads must be kept away from any part of the page where there are interactive controls present, such as play buttons for games and videos. Any attempt to manipulate the targeting of a page, or misleading the users by mislabeling the Google ads is strictly prohibited.

Ads in pop-ups or pop-unders, floating ads, or any ad implementation which draws unnatural attention to the ads, are prohibited by the program policies.

The best place for the ads depends on the content and purpose of your site. To learn more about ad implementation and to optimize the placement of your ads, visit 'Where to place ads on my site' in the AdSense Help Center.

Monitor your Traffic Regularly

To ensure that the ads on your site receive clean, healthy traffic, we recommend you regularly monitor the traffic to your site.

It's important to know where your traffic comes from. We understand the need to have ad campaigns to promote your website, but it's equally important to monitor what kind of traffic these promotions generate. To do this successfully we recommend monitoring the traffic driven to your site using a web analytics tool like Google Analytics.

To learn about more options you can use to analyze your traffic, you can search on Google with terms like 'webmaster resources', 'website tracking', and more.

If you use any campaigns to boost traffic to your site, we recommend segmenting your traffic by source and assigning a dedicated channel to each of those sources. For example, if you advertise using Google AdWords, you could set up an AdSense channel called "AdWords" to track the AdSense activity coming only from your AdWords campaigns. You could then use your channel reports to monitor and compare the performance of each of your traffic sources. If one of those channels has suspicious activity, we recommend pausing or stopping your participation in the corresponding traffic source in order to stop any traffic that may be invalid.

If you notice any suspicious activity, please notify Google AdSense.

Splitting your traffic into segments and channels also helps you understand which campaigns are performing better, where most user interactions are happening, and so on. This will help you optimize the performance of Google ads on your site.

Disabled Accounts

As you may know, Google treats invalid click activity very seriously, analyzing all clicks and impressions to determine whether they fit a pattern of use intended to artificially drive up an advertiser's costs or a publisher's earnings. If we determine that an AdSense account may pose a risk to our advertisers or the experience of individual users, we may disable that account to protect the health of the network. To learn more about disabled accounts, please visit our Disabled Accounts FAQ page.

If your AdSense account is disabled for invalid activity and you would like to appeal the decision, please fill out our Online Appeal Form. By including as much information as you can about your account, your site traffic, as well as the other details requested in the appeal form, you'll enable our specialists to thoroughly investigate your appeal.
